Sure, he had a torn labrum this whole time. Suuuuuure.
Also, I love them going to the “all lefties” lineup for a freakin’ lefty opener.
Rah-rah, bullpen! Go for it, three in a row. Rah-rah, bullpen! Yay, bullpen! If you can’t do it, no one can!
Judge!
Now go for 2 or 3 (or 4).
It’s your own fault you’re playing catch-up!
Now, as I follow this, I think 3 or 4 hrs from Judge may be just about the only chance the Yankees have in this one.
Here we go
How is Schlittler letting the same exact shit happen?
That was just fucking pathetic, Schlittler. You HAVE to be able to put batters away with the stuff you have. This inability to do so is just so embarrassing.
If his stuff is good, and it seems to be, some of the blame should fall on Boone, Blake and Rice.
0-2. Let’s see how he fucks this up now.
Three singles = 1 one home run and sometimes when you don’t swing for the fences good things happen.
Glad he got out of it with only one run allowed, but holy shit, was that Dingler at-bat embarrassing as fuck.
Oh, that pitch count.
The Yankees need baserunners, if only to get Judge up more often.
Randy Levine and Trump kind of figures. They deserve each other. Why not honor Rudy and Hillary and Pataki and Schumer and Bush who were there.
Randy Levine and Pol Pot kind of figures.
Glad Boone made the lineup for lefties based on the guy pitching a single fucking inning.
Rice!
Three hits in a row. The last time that happened was 1958 at home against Pedro Ramos.
Heh.
Maybe this Caballero guy should play more.
Instead of whom, though?!
Why isn’t Grisham or The Martian pinch hitting here? Slater 203/530 vs RHPs.
Stupidity.
Great response by Schlittler.
Lucky Schlittler, they seem to have him figured out. Gleyber doing Jorge.
Once a Yankee baserunner, always a Yankee baserunner.
Aaron fucking Judge!
Magisterial.
One away from the 3, two from the 4 😉
No stopparling that!
I was just about to say that whatever happens in that at-bat, I was at least impressed with Stanton only swinging in the zone. And then he did that. Awesome
A lot of yardage by the big boys today.
I’m sure Cashman is thinking this Gipson-Long guy would be a fine addition to the Yankees bullpen.
Those names Yogi and Mantle; Ruth and Gehrig. And Soto didn’t want to be part of that history. That man must not have the love of the game.
It’s truly inexplicable.
Not only that, but he was also completely protected from the press here. Just a bizarre, bizarre decision by him.
Then he said family members talked him into playing with The Boys of Shea.
I don’t think the Yankees are going anywhere this year but I would like to see Judge go on a tear the last couple weeks
Damn, Stanton demolished that ball.
On the one hand, I like how Schlittler has adjusted. On the other hand, I do not like how a bigger lead makes him such a better pitcher.
We have enough headcases on the pitching staff, buddy!
That’s it, boys. Get Judge back to the plate!
Why are they leaving Slater in?!
HBP. Was it bad? Probably not, I’m guessing.
No.
Big out. Sounds funny to say that up 8 but considering how crappy our pen is.
Boone is committed to giving Slater 4 ABs
It’s so dumb.
Yeah Kay except Yarbrough is a high leverage reliever right now. Doval, Leiter and Devin are low leverage relievers. Weaver lately also.
I think Yarby might be starting on Sunday.
Just let Schlittler go seven.
I can’t believe the Tigers are going to their bench only down by 8.
It’s not over.
Booing politicians at the Stadium is a time-honored tradition that goes back to Mayor Jimmy Walker and it’s just nice to see some things never go outta style.
Yarby pitching tonight, so why the fuck is the starter TBD for Sunday?
Warren
But MLB switched it from Warren to TBD today. That seems pointed, no?
I know we’re up 7 but with the bases loaded and our pen why was Slater hitting?
Why are we burning our second best reliever?
So we won’t have to burn our best reliever?
Because he’s a witch?

Cam Schlittler crossed the 50-inning rookie limit tonight and is no longer considered a prospect. Carlos Lagrange is now the best pitching prospect in the system. He allowed one hit and struck out five in six scoreless innings tonight as Double-A Somerset clinched a postseason spot.

Nice job winning on Nazi Night
?
If the Yankees had won ONE of the first two games, they would have won the first three of this four-series gauntlet.
Would we not have been thrilled? This has actually been pretty damned good, and it could easily have been far, far, far, far worse.
We’ll see Sunday ~10:30.
It’s not like the first two were narrow losses though. They got beat like the redheaded stepchild of a rented mule.
True. Although they could (and should) easily have won the 3rd game against the Unpunished Cheaters.
The problem is not that we lost the first two games but that we couldn’t hit Mize or Flaherty all three of Boston’s starters are better than Mize or Flaherty.
Bottom line..if they win one in Boston it’s 6-6 for the gauntlet which is what they are. A decent but not great team. And already better than some of the predictions on this site.
Exactly, our expectations were so low that we expected to get crushed those 12 games. The Yankees-the soft bigotry of low expectations.
