I’m not saying that the Yankees are fucked in their pursuit of a playoff spot this season. However, I AM saying that they’re fucked in these next two games. Cam Schlittler, their #5 starter, against a Cy Young candidate, when the Yankees can’t even hit above average starting pitchers like Edward Cabrera? No way, no how.
Brown, though, is a very good guy to look at in terms of Schlittler’s possible future. 24-year-old Brown was VERY much like Schlittler this year. And NOW look at Brown! Having great stuff gives you a real opportunity to become a stud starting pitcher eventually.
I still can’t believe they changed their rotation to line Brown up against the Yankees. Fucking dicks.
Now that the warmups are over let’s start the game
Shocking, not.
Schlittler’s FIP 5.96. His WHIP 1.678. He may or may not be good some day, just not now.
This was an obvious result. I honestly don’t even mind it. Schlittler is still working through shit. He’s a better option than Stroman or Carrasco. When Yarbrough is healthy, though, they might want to give him the #5 spot.
Jazz last 14 days 204/563 striking out at a 40% clip.
Did Dontrelle just say Jasson’s always had power? Three home runs since June 1. One home run and only 1 double the last 28 days. Still shaky defensively. He’s turned into a disappointment, not Wells level, but still. Are the Yankees trying to turn him into a 270 singles hitter?

Other than Tom Brady, Altuve might be the most unlikable professional athlete on the planet.
Wells last 28 days 115/334. Of all qualifiers over the last 30 days only James Wood, not the actor, has a lower BA 105 and no one has a worse OPS, James Wood is 341.
Reminder o/u for # of Yankee hits thru 6 was 2 1/2. Right now on pace for under. Kind of shocking since the Yankees are such a great hitting team.
Not an error but shouldn’t phenom have made that play?
Savant XBA 060. I don’t really know if I’m using that metric properly.
Dubon with a nice un Yankee since DJ oppo line single.
So far Eury, Cabrera, Evo, Hunter all right handers 24 innings, 1 run, 6 hits total.
LOL One hit so far. Maybe close their eyes while swinging and they’d have 2 hits.
I think Austin tried that.
Maybe Austin Wells needs a trip to SWB to clear his mind.
And a huge rally by the over.
No DP Aaron please. That’ll do.
Judge enjoyer right here.
Belli doesn’t normally strike out, so of course he struck out here.
Jazz OPS split 855/664 though his BA is 240 either way. Not allowed to hit for Jazz because he’s a star?
In CashBoone’s mind, yeah. He’s Didi v.2 to me.
We got Rosario to not pinch hit for Jazz with two on in a tie game.
Yerry was looking good and got screwed on ball 4 so Boone pulled him.
When does Devin come in?
Why should it have taken so long for there to be a female ump?
They had to wait to make sure Earl Weaver was really dead.
Doval should never close, but he’s a good seventh inning guy.
How’s anybody gonna beat the new New York Yankees in a battle of the pens?
And they still have Abreu 1.75 era and Hader 2.13 era which is partially why Houston is 20-11 in 1 run games while we’re 17-19.
We have no shot unless it goes to 11. Meanwhile only 4 hits thru 8, which is par. We were lucky that 3 hits came in the same inning. The 6th was our last shot and Cody struck out. This team can’t hit.
Now or never. Rosario looked shaky on the routine fly ball.
Can we borrow Soto for this inning.
A whole lot of popping up going on.
Eight pitches so Hader can pitch the tenth. Four hits in 10 innings, about right.
Oh Good.
Not Leiter or Hill. Boone really is a fucking idiot.
I gotta admit I didn’t think even Boone was stupid enough to go to Devin here.
Yankees doomed.
Gotta get Williams going
Exactly. He’s this close (the distance from NY to Milwaukee close)
Who’s worse Devin or Boone?
Today would be a good day to:
• DFA Williams
• Fire Boone
Hal said a few years back that Boone was one of the smarter managers. Boy, does Cashman have Hal bamboozled.
With Holmes and Chapman when they were terrible Boone didn’t use them in high leverage situation.
Also the Yankees suck at hitting.
Devin 5.73 era
Of course, they drive in the runner now.
This is awful, but at the very least, it HAS to be the end of Williams as even slightly high leverage, right? Right? Please say right
No solace in that. He 100% should have been the last man in the COT after the last loss. I was astonished that even Boone would use Devin there. Flabbbergasted.
How many losses is Devin responsible for?
An uncanny amount. Just an absurd amount.
Three the last week or so.
George would’ve had half this team taken out in the parking lot by now
I think you can make a case for this being the worst loss of the season since it was just SO FUCKING AVOIDABLE.
I think last Friday’s game where Boone also shit the bed two or three times along with a few relievers. Bird is on Cash but letting Bird pitch to Stowers was on Boone.
That was a weird game, though, in that Weaver, Hill, and Williams were all unavailable. So it was a very short bullpen (which made Rodon’s performance even worse, of course).
Boone had EVERYONE but Bednar available tonight, and he STILL went to Williams like a fucking lunatic.
I mean, don’t most managers at least make the shitty guy have A SINGLE GOOD INNING before they’re right back into high leverage situations?
In case you were still wondering if Boone has anything to do with our 17-19 record in one run games and 3-8 in xtra inning games.
I just can’t. I can’t even begin to imagine why ANY manager would do this. It’s just insane. Just pure insanity.
this fucking RULES
Spencer Jones since returning from back spasms: 7-for-37 (.189) with one extra-base hit (double).
He was probably an illusion.
Boone “were kind of short down there at that point. Leiter probable staying away. So down to lefties. And that’s middle right lane for Devin. Didn’t work out tonight. The depth of the changeup was there. There was some life to the fastball. He made a couple of mistakes. You gotta use your guys.”
Boone wasn’t watching the same game everybody else was.
Leiter pitched 1 inning on Wednesday, .1 on Tuesday.
The reporters at these pressers are so cowed and afraid to really challenge Boone.

I don’t get the Hill for Trammell thing. Either use Hill or don’t. I get why you wouldn’t pull Williams at THAT point, two outs, runner on first, run already in.
But I definitely would have used Leiter 1st, and Hill 2nd, over Williams PERIOD.
Get Williams through A SINGLE FUCKING GOOD INNING before you even SLIGHTLY trust the guy again.
Katie S Since June 13, the Yankees are 19-30.
That’s the worst record among all AL teams in that
Yankees bullpen now has 25 losses, tied for 4th most in MLB.
Does Hal even watch these game?
Does Cashman even watch these games? And still he keeps Boone around?
Yeah, I don’t get it. I really don’t get it. Doesn’t he fucking get that a GOOD manager would make HIM look better? It’s so self-defeating.
Between Devin Williams, Aaron Boone, and Brian Cashman, I’m not sure who just sucks at his job and who is throwing games at the behest of his bookie.
Someone had a good joke about how people should accuse him of betting so that he can be benched.
Williams could make a ton more as a free agent than any gambler would pay him. I doubt he’s intentionally screwing up.
Cashman could (and does) set up the team for failure in the aggregate, but he is not situated to impact individual events.
If anyone is throwing games for profit, it’s most likely Boone.
Oh, he’s CLEARLY not throwing games. I just wish he could be accused of it, so he can be benched.

Pretty, pretty good.
