  1. They had to do something. Suarez would’ve cost way too much. Hayes is a worse hitter than McMahon and signed thru 2029 tho he is cheaper. Peraza is the worst hitter in baseball and Vivas is not much better. They still have their first 7 prospects if something enticing comes along and they have a lot of holes to fill.

  2. Kirschner Peraza is having the second-worst offensive season among all Yankees with at least 160 PA since 1961. Any upgrade at third is a positive.

    The worst 1982 Bucky Dent. 10 wRC+

    1. Now that Jones is reliably hitting for power (a seemingly real change), he really is the same prospect Judge was in AAA.

There are differences – Jones is visibly more athletic in the field, but more awkward looking at the plate. But the easy power and significant K concerns are right there.

Like I said with Judge, if Jones turns into a Sexson like player who can play good CF or elite COF, that’s a fantastic result.

  3. From the last thread
McMahon career home OPS is over 800; on the road a whopping 664. All his games from here on in are away from coors field. Where he hits like Volpe.
Upgrade? Yes. Compared to the disaster 3b has been.
Will it help the Yankees get to the WS? No.
Might it hurt the team in 2026-27? Yes. Because it stops them from getting a better 3b.

    1. The Cashman pattern at work. They need a new, young, sharp GM, not a guy stuck in a 25-year sinecure. And a new manager.
