The only way they’re not losing this one is if they get rained out.
Fare thee well, DJ!
Sham Kitler
Of course his first pitch as a Yankee starter is a ball.
2-0 to start, but he got fucked on that second ball.
Ball 2 was a strike.
Leadoff walk, awesome. The ump definitely fucked him on a couple of those pitches, though. I think he shouldn’t be discouraged from trying to hit those same spots again. I honestly liked his approach.
Schlittler’s last minor league start 1.1ip 7r 7h
Does anyone else on the Yankees throw 100?
Not counting Cole, no, I don’t believe so. Rodon can get close. So can Warren and Gil.
EDITED TO ADD: Rodon DID hit 99.6 MPH this season.
Okay, that was a fucking impressive first inning. He fucking blew it by Arozarena, after striking out Raleigh. Nicely done.
I’m discounting the walk, nerves plus a bad call.
2.96 era, 4.62 FIP for Evans
Those were two weird ass pitches to take. But hey, he singled on the third pitch, so it’s all good, I guess.
Sitting on a breaking ball, I guess.
Don’t look now, but that was just consecutive hits with RISP.
Nice, give the kid some runs to work with
There was some bit about how Judge is 14 home runs away from being 4th on the Yankees all-time home run list, and, like, that’s definitely nice, but, well, I mean, he HAS been in the league for almost a decade now, ya know?
They had a chance to blow the game open in the first. Now they probably will be stuck on 3-runs until they fall behind.
Let’s not make a habit of walking the first batter each inning
Okay, where should the Cam Schlitter monument go in Monument Park? I’m ready to lock in the real estate now after two good innings.
Right next to the IPK monument.
Has phenom never played on this field before?
What inning did Alan Winans destruct?
Jazz MP
It’s crazy how they just give up all that surplus value from Jazz at second by having Peraza at third.
Bronx we might have a problem.
Is he getting pitching advise from Luke Weaver?
That looked like it was just about as hard as Jazz could possibly hit a ball. And it was very well hit.
I didn’t realize this, but Jazz’s barrel rate is 11th in MLB, at 11.2% of his PAs.
Juan Soto is 9th at 11.4%.
I think Schlitter has earned the right to go batter to batter in the sixth.
Heck, forget “earned,” I think it’s just plainly in the Yankees’ best interest to keep him in the game as long as possible to reduce the amount of outs they’ll need from their awful bullpen.
I was legit thinking, “Shouldn’t they bring in a reliever here for Jazz?”
Shooting Star Don’t Stop Yet Jazzy
Jazzy.
I’d pull him after the double.
Nice job by Schlitter. You know Lo is giving up that run. Hopefully just that one run.
Couldn’t stop at just one run. What a douche.
Okay, so Lo sucks now, too. Just great.
Yankee bull pen runs into the wrong end zone again.
So it’s really just two reliable guys now, and one of those guys is, like, 53 years old.
Who else is gonna pitch tonite?
DJ is available.
You get one more inning from Lo, and then I guess you go Beeter with the five run lead.
Schlittler might stick at the back end of a rotation. Has a good fastball, just has to keep his command, and also not get hurt.
Dominguez might stick as a leadoff guy.
I actually like this top of the lineup. Volpe and Peraza at the end are a black hole – inexorable suckage, past the point of no return – but at least Goldy and Wells haven’t crossed the event horizon yet.
Jesus fucking Christ, Lo!
How in the fuck did he leave Lo in after the double?!
Not sure why they play Vader’s breath sounds when it’s Luke who has two strikes on the batter.
I’m still flabbergasted about leaving Lo in after the double.
Lo is the good one (4.84 era) just like Mo is the smart one.
Seems like a lot of Yankee HBPs lately
Huge strikeout.
I don’t know why I even bother to look at the Boston score they win every game by 8.
They get a real team finally this weekend.
Find you someone who loves you as much as the Yankees love outs on the basepaths.
I did, Sic…I did
DevoW has been pretty good other than one game over the post month or two.
Nicely done by Weaver and Williams.
Williams was a stone cold killer in the ninth. And yes, Weaver looked very good in his inning and two-thirds. Maybe he really just needed some rest. Him being good again would be a true game-changer.
I was late to the DJLM news. Which is a shame because no one’s selling confetti this time of night.
a long drink will do. and if you read this in the morning, well
A long drink with a raw egg
