  1. If ever there was a pitcher who you couldn’t press into service, it would be Marcus Stroman.

Everyone to a MAN knew that Poteet would be the better option tonight, but they’re so careful not to offend anyone, that they threw Stroman out there, knowing he was likely going to suck. It’s such an unserious organization. I get that these games don’t matter THAT much, but it’s still very annoying.

  2. Lose tonight, already baked in. Maybe Thursday gets washed out. Yankees will lose to Skenes Saturday, maybe baseball on Monday if this team also loses Friday and Sunday to the Pirates, and the O’s win all 3 this weekend. Sterling would be so pi$$ed off.

  3. I think the Martian was a plus centerfielder in the minors but a negative left fielder. Is it really out of the question to switch Judge and the Martian?

  4. And of course. Austin Wells exposed. Last 30 days 164, last 28 088. The Volpe syndrome.

Not only do they keep running him out there, they keep hitting him behind Judge. Unserious people run the Yankees.

    1. They have to run him out there, Trevi is the option. The only other option is Stanton or the Martian.

  5. RAB Fitts is the primary piece the Yankees sent to the Red Sox for Verdugo. Verdugo is at +0.7 WAR. Fitts was at +0.8 WAR in 15.2 innings going into tonight.

Fitts tiny sample, Verdugo not such a small sample. Either Cash is unlucky or he makes a lot off bad decisions.

    1. Fitts has been extremely lucky with runners in scoring position in his short time in the league. I wasn’t impressed by him at all in his game against the Yankees, and his luck failed him tonight.

    2. That’s why I said Fitts small sample, Verdugo large sample. I think he’s been the next to worse offensive left fielder since like June 1. Cash wanted him and helped Boston out by taking him off the payroll. If Fitts is decent it’s a double win for Boston, and a double loss for Cashman.

  6. Verdugo since May 1 OPS 687-589-616-549-579. For the season Verdugo is dead last among all left fielders. And that’s who Cash wanted. And that’s whose salary Boston wanted to shred.

  7. If they lose the next 4 and the Os win out and take the division will that get Boone fired? If so, I say go for it. If it gets cashman axed I’d pay the team money to do it.

  8. At least that’s one former Yankee we don’t have to worry about making the Yankees look bad for cutting ties with.

Boy, it sure would have been smarter to have started the good Cory Poteet over the mediocre (and really bad when his rhythm is thrown off, which is why he would be a terrible relief pitcher) Marcus Stroman.

Or, in the alternative, had they just pulled Stroman after he allowed SIX HITS IN A ROW.

  9. With that homer, Judge matches the Babe’s Yankees/AL record for most homers across any two seasons (Ruth’s 59 in 1921 + 60 in 1927 = 119 total = Judge’s 62 in 2022 + 57 in 2024).

  10. Agree completely with Brian on the failure to pull Stroman. This offense (or at least Soto and Judge) can actually score runs late in a game; it makes no sense to punt a whole game if you fall behind early.

  11. “The compete and focus were there throughout. A lot of guys gave us competitive at bats,” (a lot of guys named Soto and Judge.)

Baltimore has 3 against Minnesota so theres our shot.

  12. Katie Sharp: “There are 91 pitchers with 130+ IP this season.

Marcus Stroman now has the 4th-highest WHIP (1.47) and lowest K% (16.7%) in that group.”

Sevvy WHIP 1.282 k% 21.2 cost 5 million less than Stroman and one year fewer.

    Another Cashman wise choice.

    1. The Yankees and Sevy burned their bridges. Stroman was always a bad signing, outside of being an innings eater, which says lot about the Yankees pitching.
