Okay, these dicks actually found a way to get me interested in seeing Skubal dominate the Yankees, as how can you pass up a chance to see The Martian bat?
It’s cool of MLB to give them the 27th man because of the extra in-series travel day.
Against extremely good lefties like Skubal, I don’t mind these dumb lineups sitting the lefties. But ONLY against guys as good as Skubal. Like the old Randy Johnson lineups where even O’Neil would sit.
The Tigers aren’t really that bad. They kind of impress me with some of their young talent.
I don’t get why they didn’t go with a drunk country girl to sing the National Anthem.
Roseanne Barr was the original Hawk Tuah Girl.
Oh shit, I somehow never knew it was Tair-ick and not Ta-REEK.
Why isn’t Stroman getting any love on ESPN?
Stroman welcomes this challenge. Stroman thrives on challenges.
I give round one to Stroman on points.
Carl Hubbell didn’t seam shift.
At least they ran up Skubal’s pitch count a bit.
Fuck, Stanton hit that shit hard.
When an irresistible force meets a highly moveable object.
Wow I did not think they’d get him. Nice throw, relay and tag.
Yankees know double plays.
Great read Gleyber
Ninety eight pitches for Skubal
That wasn’t good Jose
Some real little league vibes this inning. Walks, wild pitches, dropped third strikes.
I seriously can’t believe Skubal can’t get a win tonight. Crazy.
Jazz what a character. Could George abide Jazz and Soto?

Wow, it is rare to see a guy loving being a Yankee more than that dude.
This has been a series to forget for Juan Soto.
Yankees batting down to expectations. Pitching way above expectations…so far. This can’t end well, can it?
Well, remember the last time the Yankees had a lead in the ninth inning on the “road” of a stunt game? So, yeah, not looking good.
was really pulling for Jasson in that at bat, too bad.
I think he’ll be up and playing everyday in September, so it’s all good. He faced a great pitcher in Skubal, and Miller did a nice job in that inning, too.
Tonight doesn’t bother me, 567 in July and 624 in August bothers me. I was really rooting for him.
So Holmes against 4-5-6 with a one-run lead.
In a word, gulp.
Also, as an aside, how the fuck is Carpenter not batting second or third in this lineup?
Four runs in 3 games not against the 96 Braves just won’t hack it going forward. Other than one inning they didn’t do much against the White Sox either.
Kiss the game goodbye.
What, you don’t have faith in DJ LeMahieu coming through with a big hit in the 10th?
Oh…right.
In all seriousness, why can’t they just NOT use Holmes as the closer? He’s obviously a talented pitcher, just use him in the 8th inning!
What is that now, 10 blow saves? Screw, you Hal, for keeping doddering Cashman* and his clown sidekick Boone around.
* I think Cashman is in the same place n that Ted Thompson was i Green Bay only no one wanted to remove him until he retired and then the truth cae out.
LeMahieu tried to groundout so hard, but it just didn’t work.
Holmes the worst in history. I tried to defend him but he’s indefensible. His 10th blown save, 2 above the runner up. And those weren’t seeing eye ground balls, both those hits were hard hit.
The defense is that he’s a good pitcher overall, just shouldn’t be the closer.
I have NO idea why you pinch-run Rice for LeMahieu. It’s bizarre. Ben Rice ISN’T FAST, and he’s a much worse defender, so what was the fucking point!?
Et tu, Waldo?
Holmes has 10 blown saves, the single season leader is Sutter with 14.
Can he do it?
Even when he gets the save he never has a clean inning.
And Leiter is a total piece of shit who only looks ok because he’s better than Cash’s other move De Los Santos.
I thought Boone would go to Cousins.
same.
guess he was playing 4d chess.
Cousins should just be the closer. Stop fucking around, and make him the closer.
The Closer? Boone didn’t even use him tonight with the lead. He used him yesterday day in the 4th inning.
Well, I expected a loss tonight, so this didn’t hurt as much as it could have. And it wasn’t like I was thinking Holmes was holding a one-run lead.
The Yankees are just REALLY bad on national TV for some reason, especially these stunt games.
Repeat after me: the yanks are never going to win a WS with cashman and Boone running the team.
Leiter 8.1ip, 6er, many inherited runners, batters hitting 350 against him before tonight. Total piece of shit Cashman. Blake???
ahem. Fuck Clay Holmes. and the ghost runner.
Fuck Mark Leiter also. Holmes at least got two outs.
They won’t make the WS in 2024. That will be the longest stretch in club history, since acquiring Babe Ruth. The previous longest stretch, which they are tied with now, was 1981-1996, this will become 2009-2025 and beyond meaning 16 years and counting.
Hal is THE problem.
Two runs in the last 20 innings, one on a wild pitch, one the ghost runner. Five runs in 3 games against Detroit. Only 1 game in 6 where they scored more than 4, 8-7 against a bunch of sub 500 teams where they should’ve been 10-5.
Boone “Holmes was pretty sharp” and he’s “COMMITTED” to using him as the closer. “We’ve got to get Leiter a LITTLE sharper. Just a LITTLE bit sharper.
“Clay’s had some tough breaks. He’s throwing the ball really well.”
“We had a LITTLE bit of a down weekend offensively.” They hit 158.
RAB You’d think the Yankees would have a good trade deadline one of these years just by random chance, but nope, they keep ringing up Ls. Also two runs in the last 20 innings for the offense, one on a wild pitch and one via the automatic runner in extras.
They asked Boone how how Volpe is handling things, not WHY can’t he hit any more.
Katie Sharp Yankees now have 4 losses this season in which the starter pitched 6+ scoreless innings.
The only MLB team with more is the Mariners (5).
Looking back on Lester’s career he’s only had 1 season with an era under 4. His career era, before tonight, is close to 5. What did Cashman see?
Cash saw a “veteran”.
I wonder if we look thru box scores will we see that he pitched well against the yanks once or twice? Cash loves those guys. It’s why he couldn’t wait to get Tony Woemack back in 2005 (because he had a hit against Rivera in game 7 of the 2001 WS) and sign l Wright (who beat them in the 1995 playoffs).
It’s truly unbelievable that a GM who quite simply sucks at his job is now at it for 25 years. With one WS purchased by blowing money on Arod, CC, Tex, etc. (he gets no credit for taking over Bob Watson / Gene Michael late 1990s team.)
That ownership lets this go on and on is baffling.
The Yankees have the most wins in baseball since 2001.
They have the largest run differential in baseball this season, and are a half game back of the best record in the Majors. The notion that the Yankees are somehow having a BAD season is bizarre.
They DO need to stop letting Holmes close, though.
